Simple Holiday Decorations

Simple Holiday Decor Ideas

Christmastime decorations are not often associated with a "less is more" minimalist mentality.  candles, greenery, and nostalgia can create that magical feeling of the holiday without overdoing it.  Here is a roundup of simple holiday decor inspiration.  More can be found on our pin board: Simple Holiday

1. Candles

A fire place is not in every home, but candles can be.  Their magical tone matches the magical quality of the season.  Use them!

Han Bullivant wrote the book on simple holiday decoration, literally!  You can buy her ebook on simple, eco Christmas decoration.  The photo above is linked from her IG.  The neutral table cloth blend with the white candles and give energy to the amber vases of greenery and twig wreath.

Wit & Delight mixes it up by putting a table runner going the width of the table and topping with a wreath and three candle sticks.  This would be a good solution for those with little ones because it keeps it centralized.

Take the candles off the table and create little moments in a corner of your house with different heights of tapers and various sizes of votives. Via Planete Deco

2. Greenery

Bring a little earthiness in inside with cedar and fir boughs.  If you love a neutral palette, go for browns found in branches and pinecones instead.

The brilliance is in the ease of this lighted greenery garland from Homey Oh My.  Supplies needed are a string of caged lights, floral wire, and greenery.

Strapped for time?  Fill a clear ornament with some eucalyptus and call it a day.  Good move VT Woven.  This is genius!

This pinecone garland comes with a tutorial from the talents at A Beautiful Mess.  We love the spacing between each element.  If you have a wall with some negative space, this would be a great way to fill it.

This ceiling fixture was designed and made by Rachael Hillis and Thomas & Hannah Peterson for a fall market at The Greenwood Villa that Fair + Simple was a part of a few years ago.  The persimmon mixed with the texture from the cedar were stunning and memorable combination.

fantasTISCH shows are how effective a 1/3 filled wreath can be.  A few of these arranged on a wall or flat on a table are downright charming.

3. Nostalgia

Nothing is better than nostalgia when it comes to creating meaningful holiday moments with decor.

It's so special when we pull out an ornament or hear a song that we only see and hear during a magical time of year.  Their power is not in how they look, but in their ability to recall memories with loved ones.

This stocking pattern is a Fair + Simple original!  You can download this pattern for free and make these yourself.

Take a few Christmas music sheets and make a tree by taping them to the wall.  This would take less than 10 minutes and fill you with nostalgic tunes.  (Original Source Unknown, gathered from Reciclar E Decorar)

Homemade ornaments are a great way to involve kids, and they will remember making them every year they pull them out of the Christmas decoration bin.  The instructions are in German, so you can copy/paste them into google translate from this Pin
